Elm Cottage excites this spring!
As part of Elm Cottage’s 10th birthday celebrations, the inaugural ‘EXCITE’ Spring Mountain Fair was hosted by David and Deborah Sheldon on Saturday 15 November. Showcasing the wealth of experiences the Snowy Mountains region has to offer, program highlights included a great range of local produce, cooking demonstrations by James Reeson (Alive and Cooking), Snowy Mountains heritage, indigenous and cultural activities as well as trout fishing.
Held on the banks of the Goobarragandra River and in the foothills of Kosciuszko National Park, the picturesque 62 acre Tumut property proved the perfect location and backdrop to put the region on display. The morning started with a beautiful welcome to country and smoking ceremony that lead into an exciting program of traditional bush craft, tool making and native bush tucker activity with the National Parks and Wildlife Discovery Rangers, Talea Bulger and Shane Herrington.
National Parks and Wildlife activities
Crowd favourite, James Reeson of Alive and Cooking entertained crowds of up to 250 who had travelled from as far as Sydney, Wollongong, Canberra and throughout the Riverina and Tumut regions to attend the event. Proudly watching on as James tossed, turned and drizzled fresh local produce were Snowy Mountains producers Tumbarumba Wines and Tumut River Brewing Co who also exhibited on the day.

Fourth generation mountain cattleman, Tim O'Brien of Boggy Creek Show stole the crowd with his lighthearted yet skilful displays which were followed up by a hands on trout fishing demonstration by local fishing extraordinaire Tony Edwards who encouraged everyone to get out and about this season.
Boggy Creek Show
Run in partnership with Destination NSW, National Parks and Wildlife Service NSW, Boggy Creek Show and a range of local and regional producers, the event proved a "fantastic success" for Elm Cottage, Tumut and the Snowy Mountains region and a great day out for families.
